In its third year at Legends Way Ballfields, the Sun Conference (NAIA) college softball championship again proves to be one of the most exciting events in women’s college softball.
Following the 2015 University of South Carolina, Beaufort win (which lasted 14 innings), we saw what appeared to be a repeat of last year’s exciting college softball performance as USCB took Webber International to 12 innings in the Championship softball game. It was the bottom of the 7th inning when Laura Borders of Webber International University tied the game with a clutch 2-run home run, sending the softball game into extra innings. In the end, though, it was Webber who topped the Sandsharks 7-6 in the bottom of the 12th with a high bouncing softball over the head of the USCB third baseman.
This year’s Sun Conference Championship brought the following teams to Clermont, Florida:
Webber International University
University of South Carolina, Beaufort
Ave Maria University
Warner Southern University
